Shalom Hills - Students of Grade I-IV involved in a Spell Bee Competition on 25th February ’2015

An Inter-Class Spell Bee Competition was organized in Shalom Hills International School for the young graders of Classes-I- IV on 25th Feb’15. The students of these grades participated with great enthusiasm and they duelled their way through some of the tough words given to them by their teachers. This competition was a wonderful learning platform and experience for all the students. This competition helped in enriching the vocabulary bank of the students and sharpened their spelling proficiencies.

Shalom Hills - Students of Grade III involved in Inter Dynasty Cyber Quiz on 19th February’2015

An Inter Dynasty Cyber Quiz was organized on 19th February’2015 for Class- III in Shalom Hills International School. A very engaging, interesting and visually appealing interaction would describe this motivating quiz. The selected children from all sections of class 3 had been told in advance to be well prepared for the quiz. There was a lot of enthusiasm among the children for participating in this competition. There were five children selected from each dynasty. The children were seated dynasty wise. The quiz started with a introduction of the rules to be followed. Children were shown interesting and informative pictures on the PPT and they were asked questions related to them. Some of the questions were also related to the computer concepts taught in the class. The participants confidently answered almost all the questions that were asked. Four highly different rounds were set up to the quiz. Four separate questions apart from normal rounds were put up for the Bonus round. The quiz had a Bonus Round which made it more exciting for the students and the audience both. The children in the audience were delighted whenever their dynasty scored points over the other teams. There were some audience questions also .The children in the audience were all eager to answer the questions put forward to them. The students of Ebony and Maple Dynasty were the fervent participants at the competition. Each team put up a whole-hearted effort but Maple Dynasty WON the first rank. In all it was a fun-filled and educative experience for all the students, who really enjoyed the quiz

Shalom Hills - Students of Grade II involved in MS Paint Activity on 18th Feb’15

A Computer activity was conducted by Shalom Hills International School on 18th Feb’15 in all the sections of Class II, on the topic “Fun with Paint”. The children were asked to draw a festival scene in which they had drawn scenes of various festivals like Diwali, Holi, Lohri, Raksha Bandhan, Dussehra etc. The students enjoyed a lot while gaining knowledge about the various tools and elements of Ms Paint. The children had put in their best efforts to draw very beautiful festival scenes. They were very creative and excited and had shown some great inputs. This activity was conducted with the aim of increasing knowledge, creativity, decision making ability, confidence and getting friendly with Paint and mouse.

Shalom Hills-Class V students made a Poster in MS Word on 30th Jan’15

The Shalom Hills School students were asked to make a poster in MS Word reflecting different Internet service and their advantages as well as disadvantages. They formatted the document by using page colour and page border. Some of the students also used water mark option. They all enjoyed the practical. Shalom Hills-SPORTS WEEK GRADE VI-XI 27/01/15 - 31/01/15

The Annual Sports Week for Grade VI-XI was organized from 27/01/15 to 31/01/15 in the sprawling grounds of the Shalom Hills School. The athletic events were planned by the Sports Department with the laudable objective of ensuring mass participation of all the students. High spirits, team-coordination, athletic prowess and healthy competitiveness were in full display on all these days as the four dynasties competed with one another to win maximum prizes and accolades for their dynasty. Shalom Hills-M.I activity on Money conducted for the students of Ist class on 04.02.15

MI lab enables the children to think and consists of kits and equipment that builds up students’ abilities to learn from experience. Today in M.I class, the children did an activity related to Money. Money is important everywhere in this world. In the M.I activity, the children were given artificial currency notes and were given a market situation in which they had to tell the balance amount that was supposed to be returned to the shopkeeper. By using those currency notes, they were able to understand the use and importance of money in their day to day life. The children understood the concept well and enjoyed the activity.

Shalom Hills-Cyber Quiz conducted in Grade V on 06th Feb’15

Quizzes and competitions motivate students. It also helps the students to challenge their knowledge and make them more confident about what they know and what they need to know. Keeping same thing in mind, “Cyber Quiz” is conducted for class V students. This was an inter-dynasty competition bases on computer knowledge. There were 5 Rounds in the Quiz. 1st round was visual round, based on famous World’s IT personalities. Students gave very good response and also share the achievements of those famous personalities. Some number-based questions were introduced in Round 2, where students gave a quick response. To check the basic knowledge of students, some basic terms related questions were asked in Round 3. Students enjoyed the most “Cyber Smart” last 2 rounds of the quiz, where some very interesting internet based questions were introduced. All teams performed well and each team gave tough competition to the other teams. And finally “Oak Dynasty” became the 1st position holder by giving the answer of tie-break question. “Maple” stood 2nd and 3rd position was taken by “Cedar”

Shalom Hills-Class activity based on “Internet” conducted on 11th February 2015

The students were asked to make a PowerPoint Presentation on “Internet” covering History of Internet, Uses of Internet, services available on Internet, Advantages and Disadvantages of Internet. All the students completed the activity with animation and transition effects. They also used rehearse time option to switch between slides automatically.

The aim of this activity was to use the slide space effectively to represent different topics and to organize the data
